Our group takes an integrative approach that combines biophysical, biochemical, and biological methods to fully characterize macromolecular interactions that underlie disease progression. We utilize state-of-the-art techniques such as nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) to investigate atomic-resolution details of enzymes involved in infectious disease, cancer, and inflammation. Ongoing projects include:
- Bacterial proteases: Determining mechanisms of activation, protease specificity, and developing antimicrobial inhibitors.
- Bacterial metabolism: Characterizing novel metabolic enzymes.
- Cancer and inflammation: Investigating redox regulation and cellular signaling proteins.
- Enzyme dynamics: Studying allosteric mechanisms in key enzymes.
